About me

My name is Chang Chia Jung. I’m a sophomore in Soochow University and majoring in International Business. Teresa is my English name. I enjoy listening to music, watching movies, and reading during leisure time. I’m also good at playing Ping-Pong and swimming.

About my family

I have a sister who is one year younger than me. Both of my parents’ careers are associated to international business which gives me a lot of impact on my decision making. I decide to choose international business as my major in college because its diversity and flexibility and also I plan to take finance curriculum to increase my ability.

Exchange Student

During my third year at school, I decide to spent half a month to study at Jonkoping University in Sweden as an exchange student. The days as an exchange were one of the most important experience in my life. I got to get in touch with students from Lithuania, Germany, Iceland, Mexico, Japan, and all over the world. It was so much fun to learn different cultures, language through communicating with each other. Living abroad also meant I had to take more responsibility than at home. I’ve become more independent, responsible, and motivated. During the break between semesters, I arranged a round trip, started from Sweden to Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, and Italy. Traveling alone was exhausting and lonely, but it also drastically broadened my vision. I’m now able to go abroad all by myself or talk to foreigners with much more confidence. Most importantly, some inner part of me has become more open-minded.

Extracurricular learning

Besides learning from schools, I also spend some time absorbing knowledge through media like NBC, Scientific American, Discovery, Bloomberg, etc. Other accesses to learning in a more efficient way is by taking online courses like Coursera, and eDX. There are hundreds of free open courses from different universities all over the world! For me, I have enrolled several courses like philosophy, music recording, and physics though I didn’t apply for certifications. Technology development is progressing rapidly, and it’s changing the way we live and even the way we think. I believe these types of educational systems are the trend that will eventually replace conventional pattern.

The projects that I’ve worked on:

• start up project: During the exchange time in Sweden, I have been used to cooperating with students from different countries. The school I went to place emphasis on team works. Through team works the course requested us to establish a start up, write an executive summary, and profit from the start up. The  results will be scored during the trade show at the school stadium. Through this project, I get to know the people from Syria and so many other countries. We went through brain storm striving for creative and realistic business proposals. We all contributed to the executive summary, and promoted our services to markets, stores in Jönköping. Finally, we earned about 2000 kr. Not too shabby in such short period of time.
